The University Libraries collaborates with instructors to instill lifelong learning skills that students can apply throughout their college career and beyond graduation. Our best practices for requesting and planning an engaging session are explained below.

Be present during the instruction session.

• Your presence is essential in creating a collaborative learning environment where your students engage fully with the librarians, and where they receive accurate answers to their class-related questions.

Request instruction 2 or more weeks in advance.

• We need time to properly prepare for a session. This includes reserving space, making sure a librarian is available, and discussing the session goals and outcomes with you.

• These documents offer insight into our goals and approach. They also let you know how long it takes to cover certain goals during an instruction session.
