The Archives of The Catholic University of America collects records, personal papers, photographs, publications, films and videos, and artifacts of permanent value that fulfill the evidentiary obligations of The Catholic University of America, and document the history of the Catholic University community.

 

Manuscripts Department

The Manuscripts Department at Special Collections, collects records, personal papers, films, videos, photographs and artifacts documenting the history of Catholics in the United States. The Manuscripts Department has a special interest in the following:

Records of national Catholic organizations, that is, organizations that have multi-diocesan or national memberships or address multi diocesan or national audiences or constituencies.

Records of religious orders originating or with a strong historical presence in the United States.

Papers of individuals and records of organizations that document the history of Catholic social action, philanthropy and social thought in the United States. This includes, but is not confined to, clergy and laity and organizations who worked with or, on behalf of, workers, immigrants, international peace and the poor.

Papers of individuals and records of organizations that document the history of Catholic intellectual, educational and cultural life in the United States.

Papers of individuals and records of organizations that document the everyday religious and spiritual lives of Catholic lay men and women.
